Dresdner Robin was retained by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority to perform Remediation Systems Operation, Maintenance and/or Compliance Monitoring activities and Remedial Activities at various service areas along both the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway throughout the State of New Jersey. The Operation involves a completion of operation log sheets; evaluation of ground water pump and treat systems based on operation and sample results; recommendations for modification to the systems to direct remedial efforts to those areas that need improved contaminant removal. Maintenance includes weekly monitoring of the recovery and injection wells, operation of remediation systems and maintenance of hydraulic control of the contaminant plume. In addition, at one (1) of the service areas, a sub-slab depressurization system was installed to mitigate a vapor intrusion pathway.
Compliance Monitoring conducted as per NJDEP permits and directives consists of:
Semi-Annual or Annual Ground Water Quality Monitoring including collection of ground water samples, collection of ground water elevations and field parameters and development of ground water contour maps. The Ground Water Recovery System Monitoring includes monthly aqueous samples of the influent and effluent from the air stripper and semi-annual composite effluent sampling from the air stripper. Basement Sump Monitoring includes monthly aqueous samples collected of the basement sump influent and effluent from the liquid phase granular activated carbon system. In addition, semi-annual indoor air samples are collected to monitor the effectiveness of the sub-slab depressurization system.
At select service areas, Dresdner Robin is responsible for performing remedial investigations consisting of the advancement of soil borings and soil sampling to achieve horizontal and vertical delineation; installation of ground water monitoring wells and ground water sampling; receptor evaluations; and performing on-site and off-site vapor intrusion investigations and reporting. In addition, Dresdner Robin is responsible for performing remedial activities consisting of passive free phase product recovery and multi-phase extraction of ground water and vapors in conjunction with air sparging to enhance the remediation of dissolved phase contaminants.
Dresdner Robin has prepared key documents in accordance with the NJDEP’s Technical Requirements for Site Remediation which includes: Preliminary Assessment Reports; Remedial Investigation Reports; Annual or Semi-Annual Remedial Action Progress Reports; Remedial Action Reports; Deed Notice Applications and CEA Biennial Certifications.
